Mother’s Day is fast approaching and you’re wondering what to give your mom? Hi! I’m a Mom to two beautiful sons and here are some gift ideas of what Moms actually want for Mother’s Day.
Yes, flowers and breakfast in bed is a great and kind gesture but if you’re a mom of an infant or toddlers this is definitely not what these mom actually want.

Sleep
Hear me out! I know you can’t catch up on sleep but majority of the Moms, specially new Moms have not slept well since becoming a Mom. They are lucky if they get 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep so if you want to start Mother’s Day on an amazing note, LET HER SLEEP IN!Ā
If you have children, close that bedroom door and make sure they don’t barge in the room to wake her up even if it’s just to say “Happy Mother’s Day!”
IF for some reason this cannot be done at home, arrange a whole day and a night stay at a hotel with a nice pool or spa so she can relax and sleep in.
ALLOW TIME AND SPACE FOR NAPS AND REST ALL DAY!Ā Take the kids somewhere if she wants to take a nap. No Mom wants to lay there trying to nap while the kids are running around making all sorts of noise.
A self-care day
Moms are constantly on the move and their minds are usually deep in To-Do lists or making sure her kids are taken care of so they barely have any time to think about themselves.
Figure out what type of spa they’re into:
Day spa
Mud spa
Mineral and thermal spa
Medical spa
Most of these spas will have the option to have a massage, manicure, pedicure, or whatever she wants to do while she’s there.
Professional photo session
Mom’s are rarely in pictures because most of the time they are the ones behind the camera taking pictures of those precious moments with her kids so a great gift this Mother’s Day would be a professional photo session with her children.
Once you have those photos, make sure to print out a few and frame them so you can give those to her as well and she doesn’t have to add that to her To-Do list.
Car detailed
My poor car has seen better days! Having two dogs, an infant, a toddler who loves to snack, and being constantly on the go will leave anyone’s car looking like a trash bomb went off in there so having a clean car is definitely in our To-Do list but if we don’t have to do it, it makes it the perfect Mother’s Day gift!
Clean House
If you have kids chances are your house is in a constant state of chaos. You can never truly clean the entire house because we’re constantly picking up the same messes over and over through out the day.Ā
You can deep clean the house yourself and save some money or get a deep cleaning service voucher so she can pick the date to get her house sparkling clean which is a great gift any Mom will appreciate.
JUST DON’T CLEAN THE HOUSE OR HAVE SOMEONE COME IN TO CLEAN THE HOUSE THE DAY SHE’S TRYING TO RELAX!Ā
cook the entire day
If you know she really wants to stay home and just spend time with her family, make sure you cook all the meals for that day.
The one thing some of my mom friends and even myself struggle with as a mother is figuring out what to make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, shopping for the items to cook for the family, cook, and then clean up the massive pile of dishes over and over again!
So if you want to give her the gift of cooking for her all day, don’t ask her to give you ideas or for how long to cook something! Just come up with a few choices and have her decide which one of the choices YOUĀ came up with she’d like to have, go grocery shopping for what you need, get cooking, and clean those dishes! DO NOT LEAVE THE DISHES FOR HER TO CLEAN THE NEXT DAY!
Take her out to brunch or dinner
If you know she loves to go out to eat, take her out to brunch or dinner with the kids BUTĀ make sureĀ YOU take care of kids’ needsĀ at the restaurant so she can enjoy eating out.Ā
This also includes making sure YOU pack the diaper bag if you have small childrenĀ
Ideal Mother's Day Gift
IdeallyĀ the best Mother’s Day gift would probably be a mixture of some of the ideas I wrote above.
It would be nice to sleep in and have my hubby come in the room with fresh coffee after I wake up so I can drink it nice and warm without being interrupted. After getting ready, it would be nice to have my kids give me a little craft they did with their dad as a mother’s day present or some flowers they picked out with their dad.
Then, I would love to spend some time with the family doing an activity I didn’t have to plan, prepare, or manage and have some candid photos taken of me and my kids.
After spending time with the family, the hubby would take the kids out and I would love to spend some time by myself having some me time and snacking on some good wine and a charcuterie board.
After having the dinner I didn’t cook or clean the dishes after, the hubby and I would watch a movie and spend some quality time.
This screams perfect balance to me!
If you want her to unwrap something
Now if you’re looking to get a quick gift that she gets to unwrap, doesn’t break the bank, and gets you off the hook, here are some gift ideas for Mother’s Day.
Personalized Jewelry
You can never go wrong with jewelry but make sure it’s personalized!
Another great gift would be a personalized mug with a cartoon version of her and the kids and a cute little message in the back.
Star map
Another meaningful gift would be a customizable star map of how the star constellation looked the night she became a mother.
It’s a beautiful way to turn an amazing memory into a meaningful piece of art.
Mama Sweatshirt
This customizable Mama sweatshirt with the date she became a mom and the names of her children on the sleeve makes it a special gift she can wear when she’s lounging around the house or running quick errands.
